finishing my night with Dexter and the sound of rain hitting my tin roof. meanwhile, who has a tin roof in LA in the 21st century, right? that’s all i’m saying. g*night
i just saw a huge spider in my bedroom, but he ran away before i could kill remove him, and now i’m scared he’s going to bite me in my sleep. halp.
Zankou Chicken might just possibly the glue that binds this insane city together. imagine, if you will, a beautiful angel shitting the most delicious roasted chicken into your awaiting mouth from a great height. now imagine they make their own garlic sauce. now imagine that the usually surly Armenian people that run the joint are like the nicest people in the world and hook you up with a small hummus and pita bread if you ask nicely (but they have to know you, its sort of like Goodfellas except way less exciting).
the chicken here is so cunting good that Beck referenced it in his amazing song (and arguably best white-person slow jam of the last ten years) ‘Debra’.
i miss living around the corner from Zankou. falafel pita ftw
so i decided to watch a movie tonight…
At first Frida looks most promising. I could use a little inspiration via the story of an incredible woman, played by super sexy (despite the unibrow) Selma Hayek. But then I remember that the whole movie is one great big love story, and I just can’t deal with that right now. So then I think, fun and foreign, like Amilie or Run Lola Run. But I don’t have the attention span to read subtitles and feign interest in homework on my laptop, even though I have the dialogue of those films memorized. Then I remember that just today someone recommended I watch The Insider, but that sounded way too heavy and serious. I need something light, even vapid. So in the end, I settle on Twilight. Christ. Something must be wrong with me.
